The Slow Movement..
Every year seems to pass more quickly than the last. Our ever-growing to-do lists and the demands of daily life often challenge our ability to live in harmony with ourselves and nature.
The Slow Movement invites us to pause and marvel at the beauty of life. It reminds us that true fulfilment lies not in the rush of life but in the moments we fully embrace.

Take it Slow
A Buddhist monk once stopped me and asked why I was in such a hurry; now I realise the rush was all in my head, not the external world. Being present means immersing ourselves in the here and now and appreciating the little things—a shared laugh, a moment of understanding or a warm hug. When we slow down, we open our hearts to the richness of each experience we often take for granted. Remember, cherishing our lives in this way will nourish our souls.
Fostering Connection
Western society often prioritises productivity over relationships. The Slow Movement encourages us to deepen our connections with others and put relationships first. Whether it’s through meaningful conversations, shared meals, or simply being there for one another, these interactions create bonds that deeply enrich our lives. By investing time in nurturing our relationships, we allow love to flourish in our presence.
Love is at the Heart
Love is at the heart of the Slow Movement; slowing down creates space for compassion and understanding. We can show love to those around us and, most importantly to ourselves. Embrace self-care practices that honour your well-being and allow you to radiate and express your true nature outwardly. Let’s all take a collective deep breath and commit to slowing down—together!
How do you know you are disconnected from yourself, and why does it matter?
Feeling disconnected from our deeper selves can cause physical and emotional symptoms. Discover how to recognise the signs and why they matter.
The currency of the future is human connection, and deep connection is what people crave. In the modern digital age, there’s so much more disconnection and loneliness; life can feel empty and lacking in authentic relationships. The missing piece that is often overlooked is our failure to cultivate a deep innate relationship and ‘connection’ with ourselves.
If you can relate to feeling worn down, tired and listless in your life, especially when you are in service to others, you can be disconnected from your deeper core self. What is meant by this is when you are faced with the prospect of being alone, you may seek to serve others for the sole purpose of connection. Although this sounds like a good thing, the truth is that when you are overly focused on others, you can overthink, lose the connection with yourself, and feel numb and alone regardless of your original intent.
Here’s how to recognise the signs that you may be disconnected from your deeper self
Emotionally
Feeling withdrawn or lonely and craving connection with others
Difficulty connecting to what’s real for yourself
Feeling numb to your feelings or the ability to express them
Fear of being alone drives you to seek to be of service to others for connection
Stress presents as fear and anxiety
Always on the go
Fear is motivating you to act a certain way, e.g. more vigilance and safety
A need to control the external world around you to feel safe or loss of self-control driving unwanted behaviours
Lacking trust in life not only with other people but inherently with yourself
Physically
According to the 3,000-year-old ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, you may suffer from any or a number of these physical conditions, typically relating to kidney and bladder organs and the element of water.
Kidney and bladder disharmony
Waking up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet/bathroom
Disharmony of energy between the body and the head – brain and throat issues, cough, vomiting
Lower back / Lumbar pain
Tight hamstrings and calves, achilles heel
Hearing loss or suffering from tinnitus
Feeling better connected with others and yourself is an inside job
The ability to inherently trust yourself and your instincts is reflected back with an image of you having genuine and trusting exchanges with people. When you trust yourself, you instantly spark a connection with those around you and feel a sense of being close to everyone and everything. Developing trust within ourselves enables us to openly express our truth, faith, and acceptance with our friends, family, and community and with the evolving nature of life itself.
By connecting to your deeper core within, you unlock a free-flowing circuit of connection with others and all of life around you. Lastly, when connecting to what’s inside, we can express our feelings with greater ease, trust our instincts, feel safe in our own skin and regain our vitality with more enriched and connected relationships.
If you resonate with any of these signs or symptoms, there is a real opportunity to gently explore how and why this is showing up in your life and what your mind, body and spirit need to reconnect and feel connected to all.

Embracing Self-Worth: Rediscovering True Value Within
It’s easy to spot someone constantly seeking external validation and failing to recognise their own intrinsic value. Maybe that’s actually you? We often tie our self-worth to our actions rather than acknowledging our inner selves. This mindset, where we define ourselves by what we do to please others and to provide value, only offers temporary validation and lacks lasting significance.
Driven by a fear of loss and a desire for validation, we may hoard possessions, hold on too tight in a relationship, or avoid forming deep connections altogether. Yet, true fulfilment eludes us as we overlook the essence of our being.
Disconnected from our spiritual being, we futilely try to fill the void with external pursuits and material wealth. This disconnection leads us to believe we are unworthy of love, prompting us to edit ourselves into what we think others desire. In doing so, we put on a mask to hide our authentic selves, fearing rejection and a lack of acceptance.
Yet, the path to fulfilment lies in reconnecting with our inner selves and embracing our inherent values. When we accept and value ourselves, we no longer need to seek external validation or alter ourselves to fit false societal expectations.
Understanding that spirit is the ultimate source of value allows us to transcend individuality and recognise the inherent worth in all beings. By embracing our true selves, we invite genuine connections based on authenticity rather than transactional exchanges.
Know you are enough, just as you are, because you are alive on this earth. You are allowed to be you. Embrace your true nature and let your authenticity guide your interactions gracefully. This genuine connection fosters deeper relationships and brings true, lasting fulfilment that transcends time.
